I’ve not been posting much in the last few weeks. I had back surgery on Nov. 15th and stayed in hospital until Nov. 19th. They removed the two lowest level lumbar discs (L5-S1 and L4-L5) and fused the vertebrae.

I’ve had a few exchanges with my Dad about politics. He’s pretty far to my right. During the 2008 election cycle I heard he and some of his friends making sour comments about the “Kenyan socialist” and how his Presidential ambitions were just frightening. He blames Obama for the latest increase in his Medicare premiums, [...]

Kitchen Remodel Album Update

I’ve added a few more pictures to the Google Picasa Web Album of my DIY masterpiece: Kitchen Remodel Three years later and I’m still working on it. I do stuff on weekends, when I have both the time and money. My aversion to taking on debt to do this kitchen relocation has really slowed it [...]

The Best Way to Enjoy American Idol

After watching the intro to last night’s show, I have concluded there are two prerequisites for me to  enjoy American Idol: You have to be at least as high as Paula Abdul. It must be recorded to allow fast forwarding through they inane chatter, “touching” personal stories and out right bad singing, or about 90% [...]

Acer Sux

My 18 month old Acer Expire (or is that Aspire?) 5520 appears to have died a gruesome death. It ran hot IMHO since I got it. I called the support number because of an issue with Bluetooth right after I got it and they said that it was normal to run a bit hot. How [...]

Lack of Posts Lately

I haven’t been posting much lately. Last Friday my sister Maria died suddenly at age 48. She left behind a 23 year old daughter, a 16 year old son and a 9 year old son. I watched as my family members shuffled in and out of the curtained ER bay and clustered around the gurney [...]

Washington In a Nutshell

Cato-at-liberty » Washington In a Nutshell I suffered through stifled snickers while reading this at work. I’m not sure what was funnier, description of McLaughlin’s hazing a new gopher, or the immediate imagery it conjured of monkey behavior on a Discovery Channel re-run. I am sure I didn’t want to explain to my co-workers what [...]

Thoughts on my family

I woke up this morning and fired up my PC to check the news and get ready for my day. I’ve been working at home as a technical analyst for a B2B e-commerce company after the recent birth of my daughter. It’s a great perk to be able to stay close by, at least temporarily. [...]

The Snow Must be Flying in Hell, I Agree With Michelle Malkin

Michelle Malkin: Imus vs. the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks Chart I’m scared, will the rivers run with blood now? Are toads falling from the sky? This must surely be a sign of the impending apocolypse.

Off on Vacation…

I’ll be taking two weeks off for a trip to Manila to spend some time with my sweetie. I probably won’t be doing a lot of blogging, except for maybe posting some pictures of Puerto Galera, Coco Beach and Tagatay. Take care, I’m off to loaf around on a South China Sea Beach for a [...]

I’m a Honda S2000!

I’m a Honda S2000! You live on the edge, and you live for the adrenaline rush. You don’t need luxuries, snob appeal, or superfluous gadgets. You put your top down, get your motor revving, and take all the curves that life throws at you at full speed. So what if you spin out occasionally? Take [...]

Are All Women Really Insane?

Somebody straighten me out here. Are all women just flat out, balls to the walls, incurably insane? Are high levels of estrogen toxic? I begin to think so.

What I Did on My Vacation

I got back from a vacation in the Philippines this week. I spent time with the family of my fiance, ate a lot of seafood, hung out at the beach and did some interesting reading: “1491 : New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus” “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man” I recommend both. 1491 was [...]
