I seem to remember saying sometime ago that the best possible outcome in Iraq would be the creation of a new ally for Iran. It’s hard to believe that the “brilliant” neo-cons in the White House were unable to see that destabilizing a formerly secular Shia majority country would create an opportunity for Iran. Rove and company may have been good at a slash and burn technique of winning elections, but they had no real clue of how to manage the situation in Iraq. The rest of us will pay for their over-weening hubris while members of the military continue to die to try to salvage the bush administration’s legacy of stupidity.
