File this under “no surprise”. Funny how downloads prices are remarkably similar across different providers for content from the big 3 record companies. Also there’s a note that the labels gave themselves a raise at customer expense even though costs dropped in the move away from CD to digital downloads. Sounds like there’s significant distortions in the market to keep prices up, even in the face of lowered costs. The market is not functioning normally, the question is why? I’m gratified that the court has decided to allow the case to proceed. There are significant questions that need to be answered here.

A federal lawsuit against the major music labels calls them a cartel which has banded together illegally to fix the prices of digital music. A New York appeals court has ruled the case can proceed.
