Time to Consider Palin? Yeah Right

Time to Consider Palin by Kathryn Jean Lopez on National Review Online

Kathryn, Palin was not like Jefferson. Not at all. Jefferson was a renaissance man. For his time, he was well informed about the world around him, with intellectual curiosity and a mastery of the English language. Palin was joke, appeared to know very little about the world outside of Alaska, and was a serial mangler of the English language with little interest in national or international issues.

She should be the Time Person of the Year becuase she appealled to a segment of a minority party that lost the election? Oh please, you must be kidding. I’d like to see a poll of Republican voters wh cast their ballots because of Palin’s presence on the ticket versus those who voted GOP despite her.

She was the least qualified candidate I can remember. Her vaunted executive experience consisted of being governor of the oil fiefdom of Alaska, with a population less than a middling city. Because of the oil revenue, the state budget doesn’t face anything like the pressures of other states. I think her popularity in Alsaka had much to do with the growth of oil revenues and less to do with her leadership. She seems to have a tenuous relationship with the truth, to be generous about it. I honestly hope she’s the future standard bearer for the GOP. That would condemn the GOP to being a regional minority party for the foreseeable future. So drive on Sarah and Ka-lo, good luck and god bless!
